| On May 22, the Inauguration Ceremony of Marco
Polo International Prize for Culture, Technological and Civic Progress
& Marco Polo European (Changshu) Industrial Park was held in
South-east International Mansion. Mr. Wang Jiankang and Mr. Wu Weiguo
(the leaders of Chuangshu Government) attended the ceremony.
Mr. Wang Jiankang, Vice secretary and
Vice Major of Changshu Government, received the Marco Polo International
Prize Culture, Technological and Civic Progress from Ambassador Prof. S.
Polo Padolecchia, the president of Euro-China and Marco Polo Society.
This is the first time for this International Prize to be issued in
China.
Ambassador Prof. S. Polo Padolecchia is
the 34th Generation of Marco Polo, the great Italy traveler of 13°
Century and also the friendly emissary between China and the West. The
purpose of creating Euro-China International Association is to promote
exchange and cooperation between enterprises and institutions of Europe
and China. Marco Polo International Prize for Culture, Technological and Civic Progress
is to honor the societies, institutions and personalities who do the
excellent work for promoting the Culture, Technological and Civil
Progress.
Mr. Wang delivered a speech at the
ceremony. He said, "This is a great honor for Changshu to be the
first city in China granted with Marco Polo International Prize for Culture, Technological and Civic Progress
and for the Southeast development Zone to be the first industrial park
in China granted with the name of Marco Polo. This event indicates that
more and more of European culture will merge into the ancient city of
Changshu. I believe that this fusion of Chinese and western culture and
industry will bring broad development prospects. We highly cherish this
honor and will make our best so that the seeds sown now could bring a
rich harvest in the future."
H.E. Ambassador Prof. Siro Polo
Padolecchia said that he was veri delighted to introduce Changshu before
the international community, to expand the influence of Changshu in
Europe, to enhance popularity of Changshu in the world. Mr. Polo will
make every effort to promote cultural and scientific exchange between
Changshu and European cities. Mr. Polo expressed that more funds from
Europe would be introduced into Changshu through active promotion of
advantageous investment environment on the platform of Marco Polo
European Industrial Park (Changshu).
During the stay in Changshu, the
delegation of H.E. Ambassador Prof. Siro Polo Padolecchia visited
Vocational Education enter of Changshu.
